Book Overview

“Did Jerry Kuhlemeier really exist?” I’ve searched my soul asking.

Years have since past and I’d forgotten about this era in my life until recently. My life’s ambition has been to write. Something suddenly came over me a few months back. It’s time. Either I write now or never mention it again. So I began pulling out all of the notes from 30 or 35 years back. They were scattered in books, drawers and loose notebook papers. Then I ran across the notes I’d made about Jerry and me. This brought back such sweet memories.

Reckon I’m moving on: Houston to Tampa via way of Tennessee details the author’s life and an unforgettable experience that made her question herself one time.

This is a story of a period where she got to the question: “Did I crave for love that night so badly that I created a man to exist who would be all the things I needed for one night? – New Year’s Eve night?

Library News for February 7, 2017

Delightful author from Loudon, Tennessee, Gaylene Schaffer, has a writer’s gift of sharing heartfelt memories in such a likeable style. On Tuesday, February 14th at 10:00 a.m. in the Cumberland Room, we will gather with refreshments to meet this author and hear a bit more of her story. Reckon I’m Moving On: Houston to Tampa Via Way of Tennessee is her new book published in December 2016 which reads somewhat like a diary from 33 years ago. We reminisce with her over stories about family life in Texas and the touching close relationship she shared with her father who was blind. “I never said I was normal did I. I learned from the best, my Dad. His saying was, “Do it even if you do it wrong.” What an inspiration he was!” No wonder we chose to host this author event on Valentine’s Day – just so you could meet this sweet, charming storyteller who boasts, “My life’s ambition has been to write. Something suddenly came over me a few months back. It’s time. Either I write now or never mention again.” Ms. Schaffer will also conduct a book signing after her program. We gratefully acknowledge the Friends of the Library for donating the tasty refreshments for this program. All are welcome to attend.
